i don’t know whos idea of a blizzard this was. at 8:30 this morning it seemed promising.
by 11:00 it was like a heavy drizzle and now it’s pretty much a giant pile of slushy slop out there. there is less snow now than there was at 8:30 this morning, the roads & sidewalks are clear and the snow is melting as it lands on the ground. so i turned on the news to see how the media was going to back peddle out of this after yesterday’s hype about the “blizzard”. well, they seem to have decided to simply act as if we were having a big storm anyway. they are on almost every channel talking about how the storm will affect the commute, how all the kids are having sooo much fun in the park, how everything was cancelled today, how the inches are adding up – and on & on & on & on about absolutely nothing at all. they do not mention that the reason school and rail roads were cancelled was because they were actually cancelled (for today), yesterday – in anticipation of the huge storm! now they have resorted to stories about the snow plow drivers and kids who shovel driveways for money. “coverage will continue throughout the evening.” i have no doubt coverage will continue into tomorrow – unless a real news story comes along. in my opinion, this was the worst blizzard ever. oy.
